WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES
Art*Splash founders Francine Lawrence and Susi Hoyle have successfully taught over a thousand people to draw. We teach one-day workshops, regular evening classes, corporate sessions and small private groups - and residential courses in Spain and Devon.
CORPORATE SESSIONS: DRAWING AT WORK
Unleashing creativity via team-building and bonding
We have successfully taken our unique Speed Drawing classes into advertising agencies, brand consultants, banks, architectural practices and law firms.
Getting away from the computer screen and taking part in an artistic activity develops creativity, mutual bonding and manual dexterity. Departmental and hierarchical barriers soon crumble in a drawing class. In addition to getting the Accounts dept to talk to the Maintenance team, being able to draw is a great skill to have when the AV system fails!
Drawing and painting is an excellent team-bonding activity; many companies have discovered that a lunchtime or evening drawing session adds a creative spark to the working week and builds bridges between departments. For people who work at a computer screen all day long, a drawing class is a terrific way to relax in a creative environment.
Sessions are usually about two hours each and range from Absolute Beginners Speed Drawing (how to draw from scratch); to Creative Drawing or Painting (we bring unusual items to draw and paint); to Life Drawing (with a clothed or nude life model). We supply all the appropriate materials plus a model if required. Sessions are relaxed and fun – with music, plenty of individual attention and opportunities for participants to work together.
"Thank you again for running the workshops, we had some excellent feedback from all involved (as well as the wider firm when they saw the output!) and I for one found it a wonderful experience that has inspired me to do more. I actually took a notebook on holiday so I could sketch in Vietnam!" Jocelyn Corner, OC&C Strategy Consultants, London
"Just wanted to let you know how fantastic the class was last night. It has been a resounding success on all counts!!! Thank you so much! We can’t wait to book in another session soon." Camilla Byles, Culture Manager, Publicis UK, London

CREATIVE DAYS OUT
Drawing and painting in and around London
If you have never had the courage to paint or draw outside then we can give you the confidence to get going. Our city has wonderful examples of architecture, bridges and parks to inspire you, and we have exclusive access to several private gardens and London squares, giving opportunities to make creative and colourful artwork. We encourage students to work in a free and expressive way with colour pencils, pastels, watercolours and pen and ink. Bring an A4 ring-bound watercolour sketchbook; and 3B, 8B pencils, felt-tip pens, watercolour paints or aquarelles. We always bring some extra materials for anyone who would like to experiment.

ART•SPLASH IN DEVON
SUMMER SCHOOL FOR BEGINNERS 2019
A five day residential art course in beautiful countryside near Totnes, Devon
Painting & Drawing for Beginners – with Francine Lawrence & Susi Hoyle.
SAVE THE DATE Sunday 30th June through to Friday 5th July
If you are an absolute beginner or have done a little drawing and painting and would like to develop your skills, why not spend a few days with us in a lovely location in South Devon?
Working in the well equipped art studio at Coombe Farm Studios in Dittisham, Devon, we’ll start with pencil and charcoal exercises, learning how to draw simple objects before venturing into colour. We’ll expand on the skills learned in the studio and take advantage of the glorious Devon countryside to sketch on the banks of the River Dart – collect material for artwork back in the studio. We’ll also show you how to begin ‘journalling’ – a great way to incorporate ‘found’ objects into your sketchbook. By the end of the week everyone will have plenty of black and white drawings, colour sketches, a sketchbook journal - and the skills and confidence to continue drawing and painting.
Delicious home-grown, home-cooked food and simple but comfortable accommodation is included, or if you prefer your own bathroom there are friendly self-catering AirBnB barns at Fingals Farmhouse next door and several B&Bs nearby.
Transport is provided for the short trips where we will draw outside.
The course is suitable for beginners and anyone who would like to brush up their art skills. For booking and more info visit this website Coombe Farm Studio
