Coombe Farm Studios near Totnes (direct train from Paddington) is a professionally run art centre with a light and airy studio, simple accommodation and delicious food! We will take you out to secret gardens, hidden country lanes and the banks of the River Dart to draw. Watch the 2 minute video below!
Francine and Susi are experienced art teachers with lots of patience, so don’t be be nervous. We will help you find your way.

1 Absolute Beginners - how to draw and paint!
This course is unique. We start with all the questions you were afraid to ask: What does HB mean on a pencil? What is the difference between cartridge paper and watercolour paper? What IS cartridge paper???!!! How do you make things look three dimensional? How to mix watercolours…
We believe that everyone CAN draw, it’s just that most of us were never taught the basics at school! We promise that after our course you will be so much more confident and able to ENJOY taking your sketchbook out and creating lovely drawings and paintings!
2 Creative Painting and Drawing for Improvers
Do you enjoy drawing and painting but feel a bit stuck? Not sure what the next step is? Perhaps you always paint the same subject in the same safe way, but want to loosen up?
This four and half day workshop will help you develop your drawing and painting skills, stretch your imagination and allow you to experiment with new mediums and ideas. By the end of the stay you will have tried something new and discovered a new direction. It’s a fun course!

What to bring with you
• A hardbacked sketchbook for sketching outside - not a floppy one!
• A set of drawing pens - optional
• A small set of good qualty watercolours (eg Winsor & Newton)
• A set of acrylic paints and brushes
• An A3 pad of Watercolour 300gsm paper
• An A3 or A2 canvas or canvas board for your final artwork! (optional)
• An apron to protect your clothes
