Drawing and painting in Le Marche in Italy

 

Spend a week in glorious Italy with Francine and Susi in a fabulous location and explore new ways to free up your drawing and painting style.  We’ll be staying at the luxury Hotel Leone in the hilltop village of Montelparo, near Ancona, Italy. If you have done a little drawing and painting but would like to develop your skills in a fabulous environment, then this is a great opportunity to improve and learn new techniques in a creative atmosphere. Francine and Susi will share the secrets of successful sketching using pen, ink and watercolour en plein air. Back in the studio we will take you through the steps to develop your sketches into vibrant and exciting paintings. 

Whether you are a beginner or an improver we will help you to gain confidence and discover your style – and have some fun on the way!

THE COURSE

We’ll be based in a studio at Hotel Leone with views across the village and hills beyond. Each day we’ll take full advantage of the wonderful locations around to draw and paint. There will be trips to nearby villages to sketch local life and scenery.

We’ll draw, paint and sketch different subjects using different mediums each day. There will be plenty of opportunities to walk, swim in the gorgeous pool and take in the breathtaking views – or grab a late siesta before drinks and supper.

Group transport is provided during your stay to nearby villages

What to bring with you

• A sketchbook - hardback not floppy!

• 3B and 6B pencils

• A set of drawing pens - optional

• A set of portable good quality watercolour paints

• A set of acrylic paints - we can advise on brand

• An A3 pad of watercolour paper

• A sunhat – vital!

• An apron or something to protect your clothes from charcoal and ink

*DO bring any materials you would like to try out, but we won’t be working with oil paints on this course.
